My name is Vincent Fileccia and I’m a Graphic Designer based in New York. In 2016, I graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology.
As a graphic designer, I feel responsible in how I give form to content. Both the designer and viewer should analyze and question the information presented to them. Graphic design is unparalleled in its visibility and accessibility to the public as a form of communication. Design is more than a service to businesses; it’s an enrichment of culture, for it has social and political influences on society.
When it comes to design, I believe it’s not about what you’re saying, but how you’re saying it. Like a director, graphic designers can control message perception by conscious use of image and text. I find the power of typography to be immense in both its ability to state information as well as in its artistic form.
To me, design is the synthesis of problem solving with creativity. It affects the way that we see, view, and act every day because everything in our environment is, at one point, conceived through the process of design. I believe there is always a better way to do something and that there is more to discover beyond the current discourse of design.
